The 2016-2018 Hunting and Trapping Regulations are out!

The Province has released the 2016-2018 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis (35 Mb), detailing up-to-date rules and regulations for hunters throughout British Columbia. The new rules are in effect from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2018. The synopsis is available online and in hard copy at sports stores, outfitters and other hunting licence vendors throughout B.C.

The synopsis includes 85 regulatory changes aimed at conserving wildlife and their habitats, enhancing the quality of data collected, protecting at-risk species and livestock.

In the event that there is a need to change a regulation in 2016/17 or 2017/18, the online version will be updated with any changes highlighted in red and listed in a corrections poster.

In preparing the synopsis, the Province consulted with a wide range of stakeholders including conservation and hunting organizations, local government and First Nations. The Province also posted proposed changes for public comment on its angling, hunting, and trapping public engagement website.
